Robo-sapians coming of age?

The creators of the rather eerie-looking CB2 (Child-robot with Biomimetic Body), which was first introduced to the world back in 2007, say that the 130cm silicone-enveloped android is making excellent progress towards their goal of simulating a real-life 1-2 year old.

While progress is slow at this stage, professor Minoru Asada, the head of the robotic team at Osaka University, is confident that the bot will be at the stage of creating it’s own basic sentences by the end of this decade.

While you make be thinking that all of this should be filed well and truly under science fiction, we only have to look back to the 1950’s to see how far we’ve come in that time and and where we could end up in another 50 years time. Robo-sapians here we come!
